Budapest, Vámház krt. 1-3, 1093 Hungary
This three level market hall contains everything from deli and meat products to clothing, leather bags and souvenirs. It was busy but we found the quality great and reasonably priced. It's also a good place to try local Hungarian street food! The building itself is very impressive! Worth a couple of hours to visit it all. If you don't go here then you didn't visit Budapest.
An amazing marketplace with high quality foods at reasonable prices. It is clean and very well kept. The range of meats for sale is huge. Upstairs is the usual tourist souvenirs, some of which are good quality and fair value. We interacted with three upstairs vendors, two of whom were very rude to us. Not a smart way to treat the people who provide your income.
A very nice market with every famous Hungarian produce you can think of. It’s a must visit if you are in Budapest, but in my humble opinion its a bit touristy and so are the prices. Not that it prevented me from going...several times...😊 The exterior and interior are very nice.
This beautiful structure was built in the late 1800s to house, in state of the art at the time quarters, a central market on the Pest side of the city. The central aisle was originally a canal upon which fresh foods were delivered. Damaged during WWII, repairs were made, but ultimately the building had to be closed. After massive renovations, it was reopened in the mid 90s. While it is a tourist attraction, it also continues to serve the local population as a fresh produce, meat and fish market.
Well, what to say? Big and certainly also beautiful. But like in. Most places, turned into a tourist attraction. At eleven all the food places are packed already. I choose to leave quickly.... after taking some photos.
