I arrived here just before 5:00 pm. This allowed me to hear a man with an amazing deep voice perform a ceremony. A stayed for half an hour just listening and watching the people go about their rituals. Quite happy to have been here at just the right time. Last time I was in Bulgaria this church was undergoing renovations. This time everything was finished and quite beautiful. I would recommend being here at 5:00 pm if it fits your schedule

The Russion Church in Sofia city has amazing underground holy place where it is supposed to be buried saint Seraphim. You cannot lite candles there but you can put your wishes on paper pray on the sarcophagus and put the folded paper in the box with all peoples wishes. There is widespread believing that if you have faith in the power of this saint it's likely your wish to come true.

Very beautiful church, felt a bit embarrassed though. Someone speaking in Russian (that I don't speak) was forcefully asking me to kneel down and kiss the floor? As Scandinavian did I look Russian and had stepped on someone's toes because I didn't wear a head scarf? I didn't mean to be offensive, sorry! :)

An interesting church, you won't find many other Russian orthodox churches in Bulgaria. You can visit the main building and the crypt below (both free of charge). It is still used as a place of worship fairly frequently by the looks of things.

A bit grim but quite beautiful orthodox church in the heart of Sofia. Say your prayers and hope that they will be heard. Recommend it. Peaceful and very relaxing. I personally found it too moderate and dark, but the atmosphere is unique. Remember to light a candle or two - wishing for health, happiness.
