Vik, Iceland
Unique. I almost could not believe that nature could create such a thing like this. Awesome! Have to come once in a life time. However, a lot of travelers, hard to find peace. But worth coming of course
BE AWARE THAT THIS IS NOT THE POPULAR BLACK SAND BEACH! This is a beautiful place, and there's usually not a lot of people on the beach so this is a great place to have a walk on the shore and enjoy the ocean. However, keep in mind that the walk is approx. 1 hour each way and the walk itself is very boring - you are literally walking through a stony desert. The plane wreckage site is located nearby but actually it's not that interesting. Consider taking an extra 5-7 minutes to get to the beach and enjoy some peace :)
Definitely one of the hyped locations to visit in Iceland, it lives up to it though! Really pretty, peaceful (especially if it's a quiet tourist day), and the surrounding landscape is surreal (lord-of-the-rings esque). If you're driving yourself around the island, this would be a great place to stop for a picnic, restroom break, etc.
Very beautiful place to stop for pictures. There was a warning about sneaker waves so that kinda scared me and I kept away from the water. The beach was clean and the sunset was beautiful to watch from the beach. There is a restaurant at the beach as well as bathroom facilities and a place to throw your trash (if you are a eat on the go person like myself). Definitely worth a visit, just be safe.
Wow factor. Lovely pics
