tasting menu was a bit of a disappointment. Sushi is great but the menu as a whole didn't spark any joy. Ordering separately different sushi assortments would have been a better choice

I have been in Japan and luckily had chance to try real and great sushi restaurants there. I also tried many different sushi restaurants in Finland but all of them was kind of “disappointment” due quality, freshness or servings. Umeshu is the best sushi restaurant in Finland that i have been. Servings are big enough, fishes are used in sushis are incredibly fresh and delicious, gaps between courses are short enough to enjoy your next dish. The waiter Janaka was very friendly and explained a lot about dishes we got. The chief Jani welcomed us warmly and took care of other customers. Umeshu is only sushi restaurant in Finland that i will spend my money and enjoy my sushi. Thank you guys! Great job!

Great sushi - very Populär. Today kitchen overloaded leading to long waiting times. Quality was perfect however.

We had the tasting menu with wine pairing. Most of the dishes were very nicely cooked and stayed true to tradition, but they offered nothing new and were rather unimaginative. Sushi rice stood out with its terrible packed consistency, it resembled those sushi sets you can buy at a supermarket. Wouldn’t really call our drinks a ”wine pairing” as for several dishes we had the same wines and the waiter didn’t even tell us anything about what we are drinking. Other than that the service was nice and I liked the lively atmosphere of the restaurant.

We went in on a whiff that this place might be good. When stepping in you see only half of the restaurant and the "beef" of the space is out of sight to the right of where you enter. The service was on par to what youd expect from a decent restaurant. What sets this place truly apart from many sushi restaurants for me is that the rice with the sushi was superbly well done unlike in so many places where you can taste that the rice is dry or "crusted" due to being prepared too long beforehand. None of that dryness etc. was present here and that especially shows in the taste of the food. I ordered a warm item in addition to sushi and it was somewhat above average, but dont get fooled by this, the sushi was truly beyond excellent. TL;DR Beyond excellent sushi, good overall experience
