Frequently Asked Questions about Travelade
Why hydrate with Travelade instead of water? Water is an important source for hydrating your body. However, water may lead to thicker blood and higher urine output compared to an electrolytic beverage. A study conducted in Japan, and published in the Journal of the American Medical, tested forty young men on a nine-hour flight. Twenty drank plenty of water, one cup per hour as many experts recommend, and despite this these men developed significantly increased blood viscosity in the lower legs and increased urine output. The other twenty men drank one cup per hour of an electrolytic beverage in the same manner and had no increase blood viscosity and no increase in urine output.
Why drink Travelade instead of a sports drink? Most sports drinks available on the market contain limited amounts of electrolytes, are high in sodium, and do not arrive from natural sources. Travelade, an all natural beverage, contains a healthy balance of the essential electrolytes your body needs including Calcium, Magnesium, Potassium and Sodium plus the benefits of powerful antioxidants and flavonoids.
What are Electrolytes? Electrolytes are a solution of acids and salts. The primary electrolytes are sodium, potassium, calcium and magnesium. Both muscle tissue and neurons are electric tissues of the body and are activated by electrolyte activity. Travelade has all the required electrolytes to replenish your body.
What are Antioxidants? Antioxidants are molecules found in many foods that neutralize free radicals before they get a chance to damage tissue in your body.
What are free radicals? Free radicals are a natural byproduct produced during brain and muscle activity. Free radicals are molecules with only one electron seeking other molecules to bond with. Antioxidants prevent free radicals from scavenging healthy tissues by bonding with them and rendering them harmless.
What are Flavonoids? Flavonoids are a ubiquitous compound found in fruits and vegetables. There are over 4,000 identified flavonoids. One of these flavonoids is resveratrol found in Concord grape juice, and red wine. Flavonoids have aroused considerable interest because of the potential health benefits including anti-allergic, anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial and anti-cancer activities.
When should I drink Travelade? We recommend you take Travelade whenever you are traveling either by car or plane. You can drink Travelade before, during and after you arrive at your destination. One 16.9 oz bottle is sufficient to hydrate you on short domestic flights or driving trips of less than 3 hours. On flights or trips longer than 3 hours we recommend you take additional bottles.
Is Travelade safe for everyone? Travelade is made from all natural ingredients and organic spices. Two of the spices in Travelade are Ginger and Cloves, common cooking spices and on the FDA’s list of “generally recognized as safe.” These two spices have been identified as natural blood thinners. It is recommended that people taking blood thinning medications or with a bleeding disorder should use them only under supervision of a health care provider.
Is the ginger in Travelade safe? Each 16.9 oz bottle of Travelade has approximately ½ gram of ginger. Ginger has been shown in multiple studies to be more effective than a placebo in reducing symptoms associated with motion sickness. Human studies suggest that 1 gram daily of ginger may be safe and effective for pregnancy-associated nausea and vomiting when used for short periods of time (no longer than 4 days). Ginger should not be used by children under 2 years of age.
Does Travelade contain allergens? Yes. Allergens as outlined by the FDA include milk, eggs, fish, Crustacean shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, and soybeans. One of the main ingredients in Travelade is coconut water which is derived from coconuts and categorized as a tree nut.
How soon after opening the bottle should I consume it? Travelade can withstand short periods of time without refrigeration once opened. We recommend keeping Travelade refrigerated below 40° Fahrenheit if you intend to keep longer than 12 hours after opening.
