I dare to recommend some serious adventure hunting. My top activities in Iceland are cycling, road and mountain biking and backcountry skiing. I love those two equally! If you are all for adventurous experiences we might have something in common.
First of all, you will have to get from the airport. Keflavik Airport is approximately 50 minutes drive from Reykjavik city centre

I do not consider myself a foodie but I have my favourite spots
Hopefully you will get a shot at viewing the Northern lights although dependent on clear skies, cold and crisp weather.
How to explore the city and get to know it properly
Some are more touristy than others, but a must-do, must-see.
Standing on an ice cap is a must-do in Iceland.
I love Christmas, namely Icelandic Christmas
What to eat?
In my opinion Iceland has some of the finest restaurants I've tried and standard is pretty high. For some budget options I would go for Mai Thai on Laugavegur by Hlemmur or across the street there is Hlemmur food court. Noodle station and Eldsmiðjan (pizza place) are also good options. For next level I would go for Snaps bistro, Sæta Svínið, Bastard Brew & Food or Public house gastropub. Fine dining is not really my thing, I prefer the right atmo but Grillmarkaðurinn is a classic for good vibes & fine food and wine.
